Import Into India — Without an Indian Entity

An Importer of Record (IOR) is the legal entity responsible for an import — holding the IEC, paying duties, and owning compliance liability. If your company has no Indian subsidiary, you cannot legally import. Bruce Logistics solves this: we become your Importer of Record, so your goods enter India fully compliant while you focus on your customers.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Is IOR legal in India?
Yes. The importer on record must be a legitimate Indian entity with a valid IEC that genuinely undertakes the import obligations — which is exactly what our structure provides, including FEMA-compliant payment flows and IDPMS closure through our AD bank.
Who owns the goods under an IOR arrangement?
Commercial ownership stays with you and your buyer as agreed in your sales contract. We take importer-of-record responsibility — the regulatory role — not commercial title, and the agreement documents this clearly.
What does IOR service cost?
A percentage of shipment value with a minimum fee, depending on product category, compliance complexity and frequency. Regulated goods (cosmetics, electronics, food) carry additional licence costs. Request a quote with your product details for exact numbers.
Can you also handle the freight, or only the importation?
Both. Most clients use our end-to-end option — origin pickup to Indian delivery — but we equally accept shipments where you arrange freight and we take over at the Indian port.
