India's Import Rulebook, Decoded

India regulates imports through a web of agencies — CDSCO for cosmetics and pharma, FSSAI for food, BIS and WPC for electronics, CPCB for e-waste, Legal Metrology for labels. Miss one requirement and your consignment sits in detention accruing charges. We make sure that never happens.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

We are a foreign brand with no Indian company. Can you hold licences for us?
Yes — through our Authorised Indian Representative (AIR) mandate service. We become your regulatory representative in India, hold the licences, and take on the compliance responsibility, letting you sell in India without incorporating.
How early should compliance work start before the first shipment?
Three to five months for CDSCO and BIS pathways; four to eight weeks for FSSAI and EPR. Compliance timelines — not freight — determine your launch date, so start the moment a product is confirmed.
Can you fix a shipment already stuck at customs for a missing licence?
Sometimes — options depend on the regulation involved and range from retrospective approvals to re-export. Contact us immediately with the query memo; the earlier we engage, the more options remain open.
Do CE marking or FDA approval count in India?
No. India requires its own registrations — BIS is not satisfied by CE, and CDSCO is not satisfied by FDA. Existing test data can sometimes shorten Indian testing, which we assess at the outset.
